Women in Climate Change for Sustainable Impact: Ecotourism for Poverty Alleviation in Rural Akwa Ibom State

This study sought to assess the contributions of ecotourism as poverty alleviation strategy amongst women in rural Akwa Ibom State. The was descriptive nature and employed survey research design. Based on reconnaissance survey, three major sites were purposively selected for study, one from each senatorial districts State, making a sample size (3). Fifty questionnaire forms administered site using simple random sampling method same returned. makes total hundred fifty (150) forms. Data analysed descriptively based responses. Furthermore, evaluate impact sustainable development, chi-square (x²) statistical hypothesis test. result shows that have significant impacts development. indicates are integral part Also, new attraction discovered during inventory. Therefore, researcher recommends should actively participate involve related activities. They reinforce positive conservation habit towards natural resource base. biodiversity be advocated integrated planning decision tourism development since they more vulnerable.
